Why MCC Revised the NEET PG 2025 Round 3 Schedule

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) revised the NEET PG 2025 Round 3 schedule on 30 January 2026 to ensure that the counselling process remains fair, transparent, and legally compliant. This revision was not sudden or arbitrary, but a necessary step following major changes in eligibility and ongoing legal considerations.

One of the key reasons for the revision was the significant reduction in the qualifying percentile, which made a large number of new candidates eligible after Round 2. If the original timeline had continued, these candidates would not have received adequate time to register and participate, which could have raised questions of fairness and equal opportunity—often a concern examined closely by courts.

Another important factor was the need to stay aligned with possible directions from the Hon’ble Supreme Court order for Addition of 49 HIMSR MD/MS Seats NEET PG Round 3, NMC, or other statutory authorities. MCC routinely adjusts counselling timelines as a precautionary measure when legal matters or policy changes are underway, so that admissions are not cancelled or disturbed at a later stage.

Additionally, a very high number of seats remained vacant after the first two rounds. The revised schedule allowed MCC to update the seat matrix properly and avoid hurried allotments. This step was important to ensure that the counselling process withstands judicial scrutiny and that no allotment is later challenged on procedural grounds.
