NEET 2026: NMC Issues Strict Alert to Medical Colleges, No Leave on May 2–3 to Ensure Exam Integrity

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued an important public notice ahead of NEET UG 2026, directing all medical colleges across India to follow strict measures to maintain the integrity of the examination. The advisory comes just days before the exam scheduled on May 3, 2026.

In line with instructions from the Ministry of Education, medical institutions have been asked to remain alert and take preventive steps to avoid any misconduct or unfair practices linked to the NEET exam process.

The notice highlights concerns based on past incidents where exam integrity may have been compromised. To prevent such situations, NMC has emphasized strict vigilance and institutional responsibility.

The directive is part of a broader effort to ensure that NEET UG 2026 is conducted in a fair, transparent, and secure manner across all centres.

Key Instructions to Medical Colleges

Medical colleges and institutions have been given clear directions to follow:

  • Ensure strict compliance with Ministry of Education guidelines
  • Stay vigilant against any suspicious or unethical activities
  • Sensitize students about consequences of involvement in malpractice
  • Support authorities in maintaining exam integrity

This means institutions are now directly responsible for monitoring student conduct during the NEET exam period.

No Leave Advisory for Students

As a preventive measure, NMC has advised medical colleges not to grant leave to students on May 2 and May 3, 2026.

Leave will only be allowed in exceptional cases with proper justification. This step is aimed at reducing any possibility of student involvement in activities that could disrupt the examination process.

Focus on Exam Integrity

The notice clearly underlines that maintaining the sanctity of NEET UG is a shared responsibility. Institutions are expected to actively discourage any misuse, leaks, or unfair practices.

This also reflects increased monitoring and stricter enforcement compared to previous years.

Students currently studying in medical colleges must be aware that authorities are closely monitoring activities around the exam period.
