The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an official press statement regarding the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities linked to NEET UG 2026. The statement comes after reports surfaced about action taken by the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) in connection with a suspected paper leak and malpractice network.
According to NTA, the NEET 2026 examination conducted on 3 May 2026 was held under strict security protocols across all centres in India and abroad. The agency stated that the examination process itself was completed smoothly and as scheduled.

In the official release, NTA highlighted multiple security layers implemented during the examination process to ensure fairness and transparency.

The security measures included:
- GPS-tracked transportation of question papers
- Unique traceable watermark identifiers on papers
- AI-assisted CCTV surveillance from central control rooms
- Biometric verification of all candidates
- 5G jammers at examination centres
NTA stated that all centres operated under these protocols during the NEET UG 2026 examination.
When Did NTA Receive Information About Alleged Malpractice?
As per the official statement, NTA received inputs regarding alleged malpractice activities on the late evening of 7 May 2026, four days after the examination was conducted.
The agency said these inputs were immediately escalated to central investigating agencies on the morning of 8 May 2026 for independent verification and action.
NTA also appreciated the role of law enforcement agencies, including the Rajasthan SOG, for their professional investigation and timely action in the matter.
Investigation Still Ongoing
NTA clarified that the matter is currently under investigation and that the agency will not speculate or pre-judge the final outcome.

- Further action, if required, will follow official procedures
- Any verified findings will be disclosed transparently
Message for NEET 2026 Students & Parents
NTA stated that the effort and integrity of the vast majority of genuine NEET aspirants “is not in question and will not be devalued.”
The agency acknowledged the anxiety and uncertainty such reports can create among students and parents, and requested candidates to allow investigating agencies to complete their work properly.
NTA further stated that any necessary decisions or future actions will be taken in consultation with the Ministry of Education at the appropriate stage.
