In an official reply in the Rajya Sabha (10 March 2026), Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare Smt. Anupriya Patel confirmed major approvals for the academic year 2025-26, bringing a huge boost to MBBS and PG medical seats in India.

This is one of the largest expansions in medical education in a single year, increasing opportunities for thousands of students.
The NEET UG 2026 exam (3 May 2026) will now offer more opportunities than ever before. With the addition of new colleges and seats, competition may ease slightly, especially in newer government colleges.
Students scoring around 550–600 marks may now have better chances of securing MBBS seats in counselling rounds.
