Shri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital (SJMCH) in Puri, Odisha, has been established with the aim to enhance the doctor-population ratio, utilizing its strategic location and expansive facilities. Situated on a 25.6-acre campus near the Puri-Konark Marine road, the college started its journey in 2021 with the inaugural batch of 100 MBBS students. The academic environment at SJMCH is built around a comprehensive MBBS program, tailored to prepare students through rigorous medical education and hands-on training. The college operates with a well-structured academic and administrative block, and is in the process of expanding its own teaching hospital on an adjacent 8-acre plot, expected to be functional by 2024. This expansion is set to enhance the practical learning experiences for students, providing them with state-of-the-art facilities and direct access to clinical training and research opportunities.

About Hospital

Shri Jagannath Medical College & Hospital (SJMCH) in Puri, Odisha, offers a well-organized Outpatient Department (OPD) system that caters to a high volume of patients, with daily visits exceeding 1200. The OPD operates from 9 AM to 5 PM, with a lunch break between 1 PM and 2 PM. It encompasses all clinical departments, except Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatrics, which are located in the MCH building. The OPD also houses specialized clinics such as the Immunization Clinic, Anti-rabies Clinic, Well-baby Clinic, Child Guidance Clinic, Child Rehabilitation Clinic offering Speech and Occupational Therapy, a Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Clinic, and Opioid Substitute Therapy Clinic. These comprehensive services ensure that SJMCH not only meets the general healthcare needs of the community but also addresses specific medical conditions through specialized care.
