Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), located in the picturesque city of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, was established in 1966 with an initial batch of 50 students. Affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University, IGMC has grown significantly since its inception. The college started with basic facilities and has now expanded to accommodate 100 MBBS students annually. Over the years, IGMC has become a leading institution in medical education, with 2,794 MBBS graduates and 923 postgraduate students having completed their training by 2014. The college has continually updated its programs, increasing the number of postgraduate disciplines from 16 to 20, and has introduced additional specialties to meet the evolving needs of healthcare education.
