About College Campus

Established in 1964, Government Medical College, Surat, aims to provide quality medical education while delivering tertiary care to patients in South Gujarat and neighboring regions. Affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, the college occupies a sprawling 130-acre campus that features the main academic buildings, the New Civil Hospital, hostels for students, and residential quarters for staff. Currently, the college admits 250 students annually for the M.B.B.S. degree program and offers 177 postgraduate degree and diploma courses across various medical specialties. About Hospital

The New Civil Hospital, also established in 1964, began as a 300-bed facility and has evolved into a major healthcare institution with a capacity of 1,150 teaching beds, in addition to 110 specialized beds for ICUs and special rooms. The hospital also includes temporary COVID-19 facilities with an additional 1,000 and 800 beds. On average, it serves about 4,000 outpatient visits daily and admits 150 to 200 inpatients. The hospital is well-equipped with modern amenities, including a computerized registration system, dedicated areas for senior citizens and disabled patients, and comprehensive outpatient services. Its advanced facilities feature round-the-clock ambulance services, NABL-accredited laboratories, and a NABH-accredited blood bank. The hospital also houses a Nursing College and a Physiotherapy College, alongside specialized services such as the award-winning ART center and initiatives aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality rates.
