About Hospital

Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, has a rich history that dates back to the establishment of a tuberculosis (TB) sanatorium on October 28, 1952, by Mr. Chandulal Trivedi, the Governor of Punjab, on behalf of philanthropist Rai Bahadur Jodhamal Kuthiala. The TB sanatorium was inaugurated by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, on May 21, 1958, and served as a 200-bed facility aimed at addressing the health needs of the Kangra residents. Over the years, the hospital evolved, and the foundation stone for a new hospital was laid by then Chief Minister Sh. Virbhadra Singh on October 23, 1996. This new facility, which expanded the hospital's capabilities, was officially opened to the public by the Chief Minister on October 3, 2008, thereby enhancing the healthcare services available to the community.
