The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2026 is expected to be conducted as a single, uniform national-level entrance examination for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH, veterinary and nursing courses across India. As per previous official trends and existing regulatory provisions, NEET UG 2026 will remain mandatory for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, BHMS and BVSc & AH courses, along with shortlisting of candidates for B.Sc Nursing (MNS) programmes.

NEET UG 2026 Exam Pattern
As per previous official trends, the NEET UG 2026 examination is expected to follow the pre-COVID exam pattern with 180 compulsory questions to be attempted in 180 minutes. The question paper will include Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology), and all questions will be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type with a single correct answer.

NEET UG 2026 Marking Scheme
For each question, candidates must select one correct or most appropriate option. The marking scheme is expected to be as follows:
Correct answer: +4 marks
Incorrect answer: −1 mark
Unanswered question: 0 mark
If a question is found to have more than one correct option, candidates who mark any of the correct options will be awarded full marks. If all options are correct, full marks will be awarded to all candidates who attempted the question. If a question is dropped or found incorrect, full marks will be awarded to all candidates irrespective of attempt.
NEET UG 2026 Application Process
The NEET UG 2026 application process is expected to be conducted entirely in online mode through the official NTA website. Candidates must carefully complete all steps including registration, application form filling and fee payment. The application will be considered successfully submitted only after the Confirmation Page is generated.
Step 1: Registration Process
Candidates must register online by visiting the official NEET UG portal. During registration, applicants are required to enter their basic personal details exactly as mentioned in their Class 10 certificate.
Details required at the registration stage include:
- •Candidate’s Name, Mother’s Name and Father’s Name (in capital letters)
- •Date of Birth in DD/MM/YYYY format
- •Identification Details as per candidate category
- •Valid Mobile Number and Email ID (candidate or parent/guardian only)
- •Complete Correspondence and Permanent Address with PIN code

Step 2: Filling the Application Form
After successful registration, candidates must log in using their Application Number and Password to complete the detailed NEET UG 2026 application form.
•Select Category (General, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST)
- •Choose Nationality (Indian, NRI, OCI, Foreign National)
- •Indicate PwBD status if applicable
- •Select up to three examination cities
- •Choose the medium of question paper
- •Enter academic details of Class 10, 11 and 12
- •Upload required photographs, signature and certificates
•Only one application form is permitted per candidate. Certain fields may be edited during the correction window, if enabled. After final submission, no changes will be entertained.
Step 3: Fee Payment and Confirmation
After completing the application form, candidates must pay the NEET UG 2026 examination fee online using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking or UPI.

- •Processing charges and GST are payable as applicable
- •The Confirmation Page is generated only after successful payment
•Generation of the Confirmation Page confirms the final submission of the application form. If the Confirmation Page is not generated, the application is considered incomplete.
Important Instructions for Applicants
Candidates must ensure that all information entered in the application form is accurate and genuine. Any incorrect or false information may lead to cancellation of candidature at any stage of the admission process.
Applicants are advised to preserve multiple copies of the Confirmation Page and fee payment receipt for future reference. Multiple applications, impersonation or misuse of credentials may attract severe penalties including disqualification.
NEET UG 2026 Eligibility Criteria
As per the prevailing regulations of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and earlier eligibility norms, candidates appearing for NEET UG 2026 must fulfill the minimum age requirement and other basic conditions to be eligible for admission to undergraduate medical courses.
Minimum Age Requirement: The candidate must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or should complete 17 years on or before 31 December 2026.
Upper Age Limit: Based on the existing notifications issued by the National Medical Commission, there is no upper age limit for appearing in NEET UG 2026.
Candidates are advised to carefully verify their date of birth as mentioned in their Class 10 certificate, as the eligibility is strictly determined based on the date of birth criteria and no relaxation beyond the prescribed norms is permitted.
NEET UG 2026 Items Not Allowed Inside the Examination Centre
Some items are strictly not permitted inside the examination centre. All candidates will go through mandatory security checking before entry. Carrying any prohibited item may result in entry being denied or cancellation of candidature.
Candidates must not carry books, notes, loose papers, stationery items, calculators, pens, electronic devices, mobile phones, smart watches, earphones, wallets, handbags, belts, caps, jewellery, food items or water bottles. Any object that can be used for communication or unfair means is completely prohibited.
No storage facility is available at the examination centre for personal belongings. Candidates wearing religious or customary items should report at least two hours before the reporting time for proper frisking. If any restricted object is found during screening, the candidate may be asked to remove it or may not be allowed to enter the examination hall.
NEET UG 2026 Dress Code
Candidates appearing for the examination must follow a simple and strict dress code to ensure smooth security checks and fair conduct of the test. Heavy clothing and clothes with long sleeves are not allowed inside the examination centre.
Candidates wearing cultural or customary dress should report to the centre at least one hour before the last reporting time so that proper frisking can be completed without delay. Slippers and sandals with low heels are permitted, while shoes are strictly not allowed.
If any relaxation in the dress code is required due to medical or unavoidable reasons, prior approval from NTA must be obtained before the admit card is issued. Special care is taken during frisking, and female candidates are checked inside a closed enclosure by female staff only.
